The increasing popularity of electrical vehicles is boosting the need for efficient and fast charging stations. DC off-board chargers represent an ideal solution to shorten the charging time. Charging time is dependent mainly on the battery size, but many vehicles are capable of getting an 80% charge in less than an hour using common DC fast chargers.
The shortened charging time enables drivers to recharge during the day or on a small break as opposed to plugging in overnight for a full charge. DC chargers have been getting progressively higher outputs to match – with some now capable of up to 350 kW.
